So yesterday was the big company golf outing. Basically just the sales staff and managers. And one guy from production. I hate golf, I’ve only played it twice(after yesterday), but I figured that it would be a good way to not work on a Thursday afternoon with the full consent of the ownership. Ha!

Turns out, golfing takes a while. We left around 1:40pm, and I got back to my car a little before 10pm. Sure, the boss bought us beverages, but he also nearly killed me in a golf-car accident. So here are a collection of quotes that I feel sum up golf:

  • Golf is a day spent in a round of strenuous idleness. ~William Wordsworth
  • Golf combines two favorite American pastimes: taking long walks and hitting things with a stick. ~P.J. O’Rourke
  • Golf is a good walk spoiled. ~Mark Twain
  • I regard golf as an expensive way of playing marbles. ~G.K. Chesterton
  • Golf, like philanthropy, is a way for the ruthless and criminal to add a patina of respectability to themselves through money spent and time wasted. ~A.E. Cox

One Response to “Golf…”

  1. The first quote could describe my job right now.

I also like the fifth one, although it does have a tinge of bitterness to it. 🙂
